We all hope for one special friend
The sex of which does not depend

Someone to listen and understand
When life makes its demands

Good times, bad times, laughter and tears
A confidante over so many years

You know so much about my life
Shared the good times and the strife

A special friendship is better than a marriage
No expectations and certainly no baggage

To say a thank you might sound trite
But having you as my friend is oh so right

So I thank you anyway from the bottom of my heart
And here’s hoping that we never part.
